羅國治早年隨范德禮修士及林克昌學習指揮。他於一九七四年加入香港管弦樂團擔任樂譜管理及敲擊樂手，並經常指揮各業餘合唱團、管樂團及管弦樂團。羅氐於七五年獲香港交響樂團邀任行政總監 及駐團指揮；其後又參與組織及指揮香港城市交響樂團、普藝室樂團及香港管樂團。

九一年羅氏應邀改編了一百八十首兒童歌曲作教學之用；十二月，為香港管弦樂團委約創作《作曲家們生辰快樂》；九三年，羅氏再應邀委約為話劇《狂歌李杜》創作音樂。

近年，羅氏致力發展電腦演奏古典管弦樂作品，於九四年與兒童文學作家阿濃製作鐳射唱片《音樂童話集》，收錄的樂曲包括聖桑的《動物嘉年華》及普羅歌菲夫的《彼得與狼》。九五年，羅氏為其個人作品《狂歌李杜》製作數碼鐳射唱片。九六年，美國指揮家法伯曼改編及指揮群星敲擊樂團，灌錄敲擊歌劇，選奏了《狂歌李杜》中的《霓裳羽衣曲》及《鬥雞》。

Ambrose Law took his first conducting lessons from Brother Fantini and Maestro LIM Kiktjiang. He joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1974 as librarian and percussionist. he has also been an active conductor for amateur choirs, bands and orchestras. In 1975, he was invited by the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra to serve as Executive Director and resident conductor. he was later invited to organize and conduct the Hong Kong City Symphony Orchestra, the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra and the Hong Kong Wind Orchestra.

In 1991, he was invited to arrange 180 children's songs for educational use. In December, he was commissioned by the Hong Kong philharmonic Orchestra to compose Happy Birthday Composers. In 1993, he was commissioned to compose music for a drama Poets LI and DU.

In recent years, he has dedicated himself to performing classical orchestral works with computers. In 1994, he worked with Ah Nong, a writer of children's books, to make the CD Musical Fairy Tales including Saint-Saen's Carnival of the Animals and Sergey Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. In 1995, he made a CD for his work Poets LI and DU. In 1996, an American conductor re-arranged and conducted Ambrose's works Song of Fine Clothes and Rooster Fight from Poets LI and DU for a percussion opera by the Percussion Stars Orchestra.
